CALIFORNIA PRIVATE TEACHERS FOUNDER

Ashley Boulet

As an education consultant, I support multiple families nationwide in their transition to homeschooling. I have helped to support the development of curriculum and individual learning plans for students ranging from preschool to 12th grade.

My experience in public and private school settings has appropriately prepared me for a magnitude of teaching and mentorship roles. I serve as a mentor for my colleagues as they pursue their own careers as private teachers. Aside from my experience as a teacher and consultant, I have many years of childcare experience working as a "home therapist" for children with learning differences. I’ve collaborated and worked alongside childcare professionals including occupational therapists, speech therapists, vision therapists, and child psychologists. Integrating therapy practices and knowledge of the whole child has been imperative to each of my students’ success and growth.

I have been teaching privately within the state of California for 8 years and in that time I have taught preschool to 5th grade for various families. I taught Kindergarten at a public school for 2 years where I was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” and a “Community Hero". In my years of being both a private and public school teacher I have developed my own curriculums for a variety of learners at different grade levels. Throughout my years of privately homeschooling, I have acquired the knowledge needed to guide and connect other educators and families within the homeschooling community.

As a private teacher, I have created learning experiences for my students that are unique and unparalleled. My curriculums are designed specifically for my students and tailored to their individual needs and interests. I believe in creating educational opportunities for my students that encourage self-expression, student-led exploration, logical thinking, and problem-solving. I continually strive to support each child's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development in a way that is age appropriate and conducive to their success as young students. I believe this can be achieved by allowing children to make creative choices in their learning, empowering their independence, and encouraging their natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge. My adaptive instructional practices coupled with professional collaboration have helped pave the way toward purposeful student learning.

In my classrooms, students take charge of their own learning and in turn become accountable for their own knowledge. My students feel as though they have the freedom, tools, and support to seek answers to their own inquiries. As a result, my students are able to embrace the intrinsic reward of feeling that they have successfully sought out new knowledge themselves.

My knowledge of child development and academic outcomes empowers me to purposefully prepare an environment that is simultaneously stimulating. I believe it is important to give recognition and time to celebrate each student’s developmental milestones and achievements, as well as their academic progress. I believe that all students are individuals, and as such, each grows and develops in their own unique way.

My passion for private teaching has inspired my desire to create a community connecting educators with families. Many families have diverse needs and wants for their children's education. Private teaching is a schooling alternative that allows students to pursue their learning goals within a schedule and framework that best fits their individual needs. I love creating curriculums for my students that inspire their creativity, interests, and strengths. I feel confident in my ability to challenge and enrich my students’ learning far beyond the classroom setting. In creating California Private Teachers, I wanted to build a community which safely connects experienced, passionate, and professional educators to families seeking a private home teacher for their children with the support of appropriate representation.

My goal is to engage, grow, and support student and family success in all education endeavors.
